Scoliosis Correction :
Everyone has normal curves in the spine that lean forward, and when looked at from behind or from an X-ray of the back, the spine appears lazy S-shaped.
However, some children and teens have an abnormal S-shaped or C-shaped curve of the spine; this condition is referred to as scoliosis.
Common symptoms include:
- Pain in the back
- Leaning to one side,
- Muscle spasms,
- Physical deformity
- Uneven waist
Scoliosis occurs most often during the growth spurt, just before puberty.
Most cases are mild with few symptoms. Some children develop spine deformities that get more severe as they grow. Severe scoliosis can be painful and disabling.
Often, no treatment is necessary. Sometimes a brace or surgery may be required. This surgical procedure is known as scoliosis correction.
About 80% of scoliosis is called idiopathic scoliosis, as the cause is unknown. While in other cases, it is attributed to degeneration of the spinal disc, as happens with arthritis, osteoporosis, or a hereditary condition.
Dealing with acute scoliosis could be painful and disabling. And surgical procedures become inevitable. While in not-too-severe cases Bracing, physical therapy, stretching, and strength training might all be used as nonsurgical treatment options for adult scoliosis. Exercise can help build and maintain core strength in the supporting muscles that help stabilise the spine.
