Tubal Ligation

Tubal ligation is a surgical procedure of female sterilization that results in permanent birth control. This procedure involves cutting, tying, or blocking the fallopian tubes thereby preventing an egg from being fertilized by sperm. This is a form, commonly called “getting your tubes tied”. The procedure is highly effective, though a reversal is possible but may not be successful. 

It is considered a permanent decision, as reversals are possible, but involves another surgery which is not always successful.

It can be performed through laparoscopy (keyhole surgery) or sometimes during another surgery like a caesarean section.
